Our last meeting took place on Monday, November 25th at the Millgrove Methodist church. President Todd Lewis called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. The ladies from the Millgrove Methodist Church served an excellent meal. Our District Governor Mary Eveyln Henry and her husband Past District Governor Larry Henry joined us. Also in attendance was our District Cabinet Treasurer Owen Metz. Two perspective members Susan Hall and Peggy Johnson also were in attendance. Remember our first meeting of 2003 will be held at the Millgrove Methodist Church on January 27th at 7:00 pm.

• Old business

• Dues- 2003 dues can be paid at our next meeting. Dues are $35.00 per year.
• Handshake winner- Richard Gaddis was the Handshake winner,
• Recruiting Committee report- We had three perspective members at the October meeting and one at the September meeting. We are continuing to invite people from our list of perspective members.
• Formula One wrap up- Van Bibber helped us again. We were docked 2% for a lack of help on Saturday. The final total for the event was $1424
• Civic award/Appreciation dinner- We had 57 people present. We had a good response from the civic award. We received a card of thanks from our recipient Bill Henson. Dewy Garrett also sent a card stating his pleasure with this year’s choice. All of the civic award winners, who are living, were present. Todd Lewis also was presented with the WP Woods award (joining Larry Haltom as our club’s second recipient).

• New Business

• Attendance- 30.43% of our members attended the November meeting.

• Entertainment for meetings- Club members are being asked to provide entertainment for future meetings. They have been scheduled as follows:
January- Steve Wittenauer, Bill Terrill
February- Jack Davis, Dick Gaddis
March- Ray Baker, Dave Johnson
April- Norv Gottula, Larry Pickens
May-Larry Haltom, Mike Buis
June- Keith Johnson/David Hardwick/Ron Hughes

Brackets/ Banners for Main Street- Club members met on November 30th to put up brackets on half of the poles in town and banner on all of them. They looked great.

• 2003 budget- Lion Todd Lewis presented a proposed budget to the club for consideration. It will be voted on at the January meeting. The club was $1500 over budget this year. The Formula One race was $500 short and we made some extra donations. We still have a healthy balance. The budget will basically remain the same except we should have added income (around $300) from selling food at the Funfest and a possible Jonah fish fry.

• District Governor Mary Henry- District Governor Henry began by relaying greetings from our International President. She gave an excellent overview of our State projects. From speech and hearing- We learned that 7 infants on our district have been supplied with hearing aids through our loner hearing aid program. Gamma knife- The gamma knife at the Indiana University school of Medicine is used to treat all types of brain tumors. The treatment has saved many lives. The treatments times range from 30 minutes to 3 hours. The treatment requires only mild sedation and is given on an out patient basis. Patients usually return to their normal lifestyles in a few days. The Indiana Lions currently still owe $230,000 dollars of the original $3.5 million project. There is also a project to provide a traveling vehicle to test each Indiana student’s eyes before they enter school. District Governor Henry ended her talk by saying that the Lions are involved in a great deal of exciting work and all we need to do to attract new members is to get the secret out. Through the year our District Governor has visited 49 clubs on our district. We appreciate her taking the time to visit us here in Cloverdale.

• Banking Quiz- President Todd Lewis gave us a quiz of banking terms as our entertainment. The quiz was challenging and the ones who answered the most correct were awarded prizes.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm. The next meeting will be at 7:00 pm Monday, January 27th at the Millgrove Methodist Church. Until next meeting, Bite’em.
