Our February meeting took place on the 23rd at the Millgrove United Methodist Church. The meeting was called to order by President Ray Baker. There was a very light turnout of only five members—PLEASE MAKE SPECIAL NOTE OF THE DATE CHANGE FOR MARCH’S MEETING—IT WILL BE MONDAY, 3/29 at 7:00PM at Millgrove. Dick Gaddis has informed us that he is planning on bringing Al Tucker to speak about the grief counseling program at the Cloverdale United Methodist Church. It should be a very informative program!
OLD BUSINESS
>DUES---We still have two members that owe dues for last year. We have started collecting dues for 2004. A vote was taken to raise the annual dues to $42.00 a year to cover the International and State dues. The local clubs are required by the bylaws to do that.
>CHRISTMAS BANNERS-Ray thanked the crew who helped take down the Christmas banners along US231 this year. They included Larry Haltom, Ed Truax, Dave Johnson and Todd Lewis.
>BUDGET—Ray presented the budget for approval. He mentioned that we have lowered the inflows to a more attainable level and adjusted the outflows to keep a balanced budget. The main accounts lowered on the outflows were EYECARE FUND and EYEGLASSES/EXAMS. We have not spent the amount budgeted for Eyeglasses for the past several years. Jack Davis made a motion to approve the budget, and Steve Walters seconded it. The motion passed. To see the budget, please look at the budget information on this month’s financial sheet—Dave already has it updated!
NEW BUSINESS
>INDY 500—We will have signups for working Indy this year at the March meeting. We will work Saturday, 5/15 and Sunday, 5/30. Mike Buis reported that 3 people will need to attend training on Saturday, 4/17. Please be ready to sign up!
>American Diabetes Association-Lions International have asked our club to support the ADA by manning an information booth on Saturday, March 13 from Noon-4PM. Ray volunteered to check with Value Market to see if they would allow us to set up a booth, and Ray and his wife, Lisa, agreed to man it. This is something we have been asked to do for many years---thanks to Ray for taking the initiative to do it!
>Elections-It is almost that time of year again! Ray mentioned that it was time for the nomination committee to meet and come up with this year’s slate of officers. The committee consists of Dick Gaddis, Bill Terrel and Todd Lewis. IF YOU BELIEVE someone would be a good officer or if you are interested yourself, please talk to one of these three guys. Ray stressed that it would be nice to see some new faces!
