Our June meeting took place on the 25th at the Twin Ponds Activity Center. The meeting was called to order by President Ray Baker. Mike Buis provided a wonderful cookout dinner!

>Elections-Ray pleaded with the club that the existing officers need a break. Ray has some other big commitments coming up in the next couple of years and will not be able to commit the time that he thinks he needs to do the job right. What we would like to do this year is have some people step up to be trained for the following year, and to help out the existing officers when they run out of time. That way, next year, we could have elections on the normal LIONS cycle and get back in sync. Todd also mentioned that we would like to start the 1st VP and 2nd VP, so that the President knows they are only making a one year commitment. Please give this some great thought. The jobs are very rewarding, and we have an awesome club!
>Dues-Dues are all now paid through July—all but 2 are paid through the end of the year. THANKS!
>Photoscreening- The club conducted a screening at the Cloverdale Elementary on Friday, April 27th. 18 children were screened. Ray received the results and 3 of the 18 needed referred for further treatment for correctable conditions. Their parents will be notified so they can get the children help early and possibly avoid lifelong problems with their eyesight---WE DO MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE!!!
>Track Food Booth- Mike reported that we had a very successful day—long, but successful—happy for the rain, but not on RACE DAY! We had 17 people help, which is great. Thanks to Mike Buis, Norv Gottula, Larry Pickens, Charlie Simon, David Murphy, Peggy Johnson, Suzanne Hall, Ashley Hall, Brent ?, Brenda Minks, Rhonda Cass, Patty ?, Donna Keefer, Holly Roberson, Tiffany and Brent Fishburn, and Jerry Manion. Please let me know if we left anyone out. We received the check and it was for over $1,700. The track didn’t send a breakdown with the check, so we will report that next month.

>July Meeting-It was decided to meet at the same place next month instead of going to the park. Larry and Mike were not sure they had time to get the boat floating. Plus, we actually made money on our meals this time! It was planned to have the new ethanol plant manager give a talk, BUT HE IS NOT ABLE TO MAKE THE JULY MEETING---but still please bring a friend and enjoy the meeting anyway.
>Scholarships-Ray read a Thank You from Daphne Rubeck and Norv reported that Ryan Shoulders had verbally thanked him several times. Ray again thanked the committee(Charlie, Norv and Dick) for their good work!
>Entertainment-Larry Pickens gave a presentation on the new Twin Ponds Activity Center. The club thanked Larry for allowing us to meet there. Larry is trying to put the building and grounds to good use. It is a nice facility for meetings, reunions, receptions and fundraisers. The building is quite large and it has a 1,200 seat outside arena. They are planning Trader’s Fairs two times every month, and they are planning on having entertainment the first Saturday of every month at 7PM---The first one will be local singer Matt Hicks on July 7th---If you have not heard Matt sing, I can promise that you will be impressed!
