Our September 2009 meeting took place on the 28th at First National Bank.  The meeting was called to order by Secretary Todd Lewis. Cajun Billy’s returned with some mean Pork Wings---if you weren’t there, you missed a good one!

 

NEXT MEETING-MONDAY, October 26 at 7:00PM at the Cloverdale American Legion for our annual Appreciation Dinner— Please plan to attend!---PLEASE NOTE LOCATION AND DATE!   SPECIAL NOTE--This meal will be $10.  

>Park Sign- It is finally installed by the Jack Davis Memorial Soccer Field at the city park.  I am sure that Lion Jack would be very proud to see our logo on the fence.  James McKee, Mike Buis and Todd Lewis put it up after the last meeting. 

 

>Track Update- MotoGP wrapup—list of workers were Mike Buis, Cathy Carson, Jeff Grigsby, Ray Baker, Michelle Zimmerman, Ami Pickering, Renee and Shay?, Charlie Simon, Danielle Hepfer, Rod Garrett, Jordan Garrett, Kay Atkins, James McKee, Todd Lewis, Sarah Lewis, Jenna Lewis, Mark Tyler, Mac McLaughlin, Kevin Dean, Larry Pickens, Tiffany and Brent Fishburn, Emily Wright, LeAnn Phillips, Suzanne Hall, Sandy Parker, Jennifer Tarintino, Charity Aton, Brandi Skelton, Norv Gottula, Amilia Nally. .  8 of the free tickets were given to school—they were given away during football game, which got us a little PR.  Total sales for the 2 days were $5,535 and we received a check for $710.92 which was disappointing. Todd mentioned that Speedway was disappointed as well and will try to address some things to help out the clubs next year.

           

>Appreciation Dinner-It was decided to have our October meeting at the Legion again this year.  Mike volunteered to cook again.  Thanks to Larry Haltom for arranging that for us.

                       

>Civic Award Committee- Todd Lewis, Charlie Simon, Norv Gottula, James McKee, Michelle Zimmerman and Larry Haltom serve as the committee.  They presented the 2 nominations that they had selected and the club voted for the winner.

 

>Cloverdale Lions History Hunt-Dave Johnson has put all the minutes AND the history book on our web page.  The history book is very cool to read.   BUT-We are missing the history from 1983 to 1996.  Ray Baker volunteered to look thru some old information to fill in the gaps.

 

>Christmas Parade Food Booth/OTHER FUNDRAISERS???-The club decided to have a food booth at the Christmas Parade and to serve Chili, hot chocolate and coffee. Other ideas were to be involved in the Main Street car show, hold a 3 on 3 basketball tournament(before DePauw is out). 

The club also voted to donate $50 to the Main Street organization for snacks for the carriage rides.  Michelle Zimmerman and Charity Aton have worked those in the past and requested Lions shirts to advertise for us.

     

> Glasses Request-We approved an exam and glasses for and 80 year old diabetic lady.  She will pay $20 towards the cost.

     

> Prevent Blindess Fundraiser-The club voted to donate $100 to Prevent Blindness in the name of Tyler Johnson, Dave’s grandson.  He was in a contest for the most beautiful eyes.  Prevent Blindness has taken a financial burden off of the club and has provided several exams/glasses for Cloverdale area school children.

 

>DG VISIT-Our annual District Governor visit is scheduled for our November meeting.
